Technology and Mathematics

Ever wonder whether technology can improve student’s learning of mathematics or vice versa? This is the link that we would like to share with you all about "The Role of Technology in Math Classes and Mathematics Education"

Cool blog. Great subject. Far too many blogs about pop culture ephemera.

I can suggest a couple of topics. Eugene Wigner's essay, The Unreasonable Effectiveness ... poses a very serious question about the connection between mathematics, perhaps the closest thing we know to Plato's Ideal Forms, and physical reality.

Which is related to the further questions about whether maths have an existence independent of mathematicians. The Post modernists would claim that there is nothing there and that Little Green Men mathematics would be greatly different than out own. Gregory Chaitan and at least one of the authros of the Experience of Mathematics (Kaplan?) more or less agree with the Post-moderneists, as I understand it. Russelll would not, I think have agreed with the Post modernists, though his definition of manths (more or less, something we don't understand but study very carefully) might suggest something else.

I've bookmarked your blog (quite rare for me) and look forward to anything you can come up with on these very fascinating aspects.

Best wishes.
